The Search for Joey

Karhrie looked at the closed ground door, leading to the treacherous undergrounds.

She remembered when she tried to look for Alicia in there, she remembered the monster.
Karhrie still couldn't believe no one has retrieved Alicia yet!
The worst crossed her mind.

But Karhrie tried to push it aside.
She's here for Joey, and if she... finds Alicia's... body in there, if it's in there.... She knows what she has to do....

Karhrie took out her silver katana. She's prepared now than before.

She opened the door and climbed into the darkness.

There was a rotten odor in the air and Karhrie suddenly grew more fearful.

She knows that scent.

It was a Jakkel.

The sudden sounds of paws running torwards her was suddenly heard.
It is a Jakkel!

And it showed its hideous face in Karrhie's lantern light, it growled at her and barked loudly!


Karhrie quickly put down her lantern & slashed the creature with her katana.

minus 85 health pts.

655 HP for Jakkel

86 HP for Karhrie.


The Jakkel was furious & it slashed Karhrie!
Then Karhrie hit it back.

minus 85 pts from Jakkel
570 HP for Jakkel.

The monster was too strong for Karhrie, she knew she was going to die if she continued fighting it!

She gave it a kick, took her lantern, & ran ahead.

* Used 'Run' & 1 green herb*

She continued on, her heart beating fast of fear.
She wanted so badly to turn back, but she kept going ahead instead.

Suddenly her lantern light shone on a Chimera.

Karhrie had fought these before, so Karhrie decided to battle it.

When it detected her, it turned around and screeched at her.

It lunged at Karrhie but she held out her katana (85 damage pts) and it was skewered by it.

It gave one final shriek before dieing on her katana.

Karhrie screamed and kicked the mutant demon off her sword.

And ran.

Karhie was shivering now.
These scary monsters were just terrible!
And the air has gotten colder as she descended down the tunnels.

The footsteps were still there under her lantern light, so she continued following them.

She came across another Chimera and she killed it instantly with her katana.

She shivered from the sight of it and began to run ahead for awhile before meeting another creature.

Karrhie froze when she saw it.
The Scyis.

It's red eyes glared at Karhrie which almost made her paralyzed.

She knew about this demon.
It was strong. Very powerful and wicked.

It glided quickly towards her and she screamed as it readied its weapon.
She swiftly turned around and ran back.

Her heart was almost exploding!

I'm sorry Joey!

*Used run & went back up to Ercreia.*

Karhrie reached the Undergrounds again, this time determined to find Joey.

She went through the left tunnel again, like last time, & so far had not seen any creatures.

It was strange almost...

She continued quietly going down the left tunnel, following the little footsteps in the cold dirt of the Undergrounds.

Karhrie thought it was strange not to see any monsters.
Usually, when she came down here, there were some that always appeared.

Karhrie then brushed away the thought.
She should be happy that she's lucky not to face any monsters.
Especially that Scyis...

Karhrie traveled much further than she did last time, & without having to fight too.

But then suddenly after about 20 minutes of walking, Karhrie suddenly heard a noise.

*sniffle*.....*snifff*

It... sounds like someone's crying.

Karhrie kept walking forward & the noise got louder.
She followed it until she saw a door on her left.
It was a closed rusted metal door, & Karhrie could hear the sounds of crying coming from behind it.

Karhrie was very hesitant at first, but she decided to open the door, very slowly.
When it creaked she heard a gasp & some footsteps pattering behind the door.

As Karhrie stepped inside the room, she saw some shelves with jars on them on her right, a desk in front of her with a lantern on it & its flame was dieing out.
One her left was a large chained chest & a chair.

"...Hello?" Karhrie asked quietly.
Karhrie looked through the shelves and saw that a bed was on the other side.

*sniffle*

Karhrie went around the shelf & saw that the figure of a body on the bed, covered with a white blanket. It didn't stir though.

*sniffle*

Karhrie listened for the sniffling noises & saw that it did not come from the covered body on the bed, but somewhere near it instead.

"... Hello? I... I can hear you... Please come out whoever you are. I won't hurt you."
As Karhrie said these words, she began to think What if it'll hurt me?

But suddenly a familiar voice called out, hesitantly.

".... Kar.. Karhrie?"

It's no mistaking it.
That voice was Amelia.

"Amelia?" Karhrie was surprised to hear the voice. What was Amelia doing here?

Karhrie saw Amelia come out from her hiding place, which was under the bed of the covered body.

"Amelia! What are you doing down here?"

Karhrie noticed the tears dripping down her face. Amelia wiped them as she looked at K, but the tears still came.

"Joey... he- he said that he needed to go down here because someone told him that his parents was actually still alive. I didn't believe him, but I wanted to go with him because I wanted to make sure he was safe and he kept asking people....but-this...this place! It's terrible! *sniff* There are monsters & ghosts everywhere! And one of them took Joey! They-they were trying to get us & we tried to run, but then... then all of sudden this man-"

Amelia looked over at the covered body on the bed.

"He-he just came out of nowhere & saved us, but then he got hurt & Joey tripped &... then they got him. The monster! It took Joey! I-I... The man told us to keep going because we couldn't do anything about it & then we found this place so we hid here, but then he suddenly passed out! I-I've been here for two days already! I'm so scared..."

Karhrie felt both shocked & sad from Amelia's story. It was hard to take in.
"Joey was taken by a demon? I... I can't believe it." Karhrie put her hand on her forehead. "I just can't...."

Karhrie hugged Amelia tightly, still shocked with the news.
As she hugged Amelia she looked at the covered body & stopped hugging Amelia.

"That man saved you?"

Amelia nodded, "He- he said that he had a protective charm on him that ward off monsters, but...only for a few hours.... It stopped working yesterday.... I'm just glad the monsters still hasn't found us yet.."

Karhrie looked at the man.
She went up to him & slowly sled the blanket off his face.
Then she suddenly dropped the blanket and recoiled her hand to her mouth.
She let out a gasp from what she saw beneath the covers.

"Alister?"

Amelia looked at the man sleeping soundly on the bed.

"You know him?"

"Yeah, he... he's my boyfriend..... A few years ago he left the village with some other villagers to find some way of ridding the demons in this place. And now... he's back!"

Between the sadness, shock, & fear, Karhrie felt also happy to see her boyfriend, Alister.

"I... I can't believe he's back!" Karhrie smiled.
Then she put her hand on Alister's forehead.

"He has a fever.... How long was he like this?"

"Yesterday, when we found this place."

Karhrie looked at Amelia with a determined look.
"Let's get out of here."
